Visit the Skywatch Blog for all the hundreds of great shots each week.
Mostly clear skies looking up and slightly northeast from the Treaty Oak park on the south bank of downtown Jacksonville, FL.
All taken from the Egan's Creek Greenway, a public nature preserve on Amelia Island near Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Forecast: Clear, with a few small clouds and a nearly full moon.
This shot was taken from the same place as last week's SWF image, but that one was looking west over the marsh and this one is looking north, following the narrow road as it bends around the creek, with a palm tree hanging out over the waters. The clouds in the distance stopped right here - everything to their right was empty, clear blue sky, so the palm tree was conveniently located to provide some interest to that side of the photo. I like this image because it offers a little bit of everything: sky, clouds, trees, water, marsh grass, reflection of the sky in the water...
Getting in late this Friday due to being busy and forgetting to save a post ahead of time on Thurdsay... but it did allow me to post a "fresh" photo from earlier this evening of a Florida thunderstorm building around 40 miles to the west - note the anvil head just above where the sun is located. We just saw on the news that this particular line of storms had produced over 1,500 lightning strikes in just the past couple of hours.
