Sky Watch Friday

God provided quite the show yesterday afternoon with gnarly grey skies, heavy clouds, lots of thunder and lightning:

Culminating in my first catch of lightning on "film" - I only had to stand there (under cover) and snap off photos for about 20 minutes before I finally got a good one (using the Nikon point & shoot that doesn't react as quickly as the DSLr):

Visit Tom for more Sky Watch Friday shots - hopefully with less voltage.

I am now taking a 10 day dose of steroids for my Rheumatoid Arthritis pain and it works. I am free of pain. For now and am taking a chance to see if I can visit the Sky Watch Bloggers and see what's up this week.

I am not participating in Sky Watch Friday just because I might not be able to make it around to all if the pain flairs up again and that would not be right for me.

I don't know if you like to read or not but if you do this place is amazing. Strand's bookstore in New York City. They have 18 miles of used books. Think about that—18 miles. I ordered three used books, got them and they are in excellent condition. http://www.strandbooks.com/app/www/p/home/.

I enjoyed seeing your blog post for Sky Watch Friday and I thought your photography was excellent.

Amazing lightening strike.

Like them all--I just love clouds of any kind. I have never captured lightening...so of course I love that last one.

Thank you for your perserverance and patience. Your lightning photo is wonderful. I've not ever been successful in getting a lightning shot (mostly because I'm chicken, I think). Off-topic: I love the word "gnarly."

Hello! I love thunder storms. A couple of weeks ago, we had a storm coming through and decided to go to the bay to watch. I tried to get a picture of lightning, but I was unable.

You have capture a electrifing shot. Thank you. Lisa

Thanks for visiting, Alan. I am particularly taken with your lightning bolt. Rainbows at least are fairly stationary!

Well captured.

Love the fact that you captured the lightening. I tried to do that on a pitch black road in Indiana w/ my digital and it did not work. All I got was blackness or the dashboard since we were in the truck.
