ABC Wednesday: "W" is for Water Pump

For ABC Wednesday this week we have W for Water Pump. Not much explaination needed... they pump water... google it if you must. :)

This particular water pump is found inside Fort Clinch on Amelia Island, Florida, a 19th century sea-coast fort.

Love the last one best but the perspective of the other three make me appreciate it even more!

What a great choice for W...love the weather-worn look of the timber. I would dearly love to get back into playing the horn...I also learnt at collage, and then went on to teach brass instruments in primary schools. It is the most amazing instrument I think, & i always 'tune' into it when listening to orchestral music.

When I was young, I remember we do have a pump like this in our house on the countryside. We still have a water pump, but not like this one anymore.

My "W" picture is now posted in this blog:

Hope you could drop by.

It would be hard to find a water pump just anywhere. That is a great "W" post. Nice shots.

I had trouble posting on your blog so will try again. This is a nice "W" post. Not many water pumps around so you captured a good one.

When I looked at the first picture I thought it was as big as a garden ornament.....the second and rest of the pictures showed its true size! Awesome.

I don't think I'd want to drink that water! But this is a fascinating bit of history....I don't recall ever actually seeing such a water pump, though I've heard of them, of course.

The last one gets my vote - but it looked a bit dry to be a water-pump...
