Sky Watch Friday

Below is a shot of a statue at the historic site of the Mission Nobre de Dios in St. Augustine, site of the landing of the Spanish and first mission in what is now the United States. The statue is of one of the former heads of the mission, but I forget his name. He is now either:

a) joining us all in Sky Watch Friday,
b) praying,
c) directing air traffic for landings, or
d) meditating and pondering his insignificance in the vast scheme of things.

I think I prefer option C. :)

And here is the same view, zoomed in a little bit closer. Always a good idea to take multiple shots of the same subject from different distances and angles, especially with modern digital cards that hold a bajillion photos (bajillion is an actual number meaning a really, really lot... look it up).

It's a beautiful statue. I wish I could see the face. I've been to St. Augustine but that was many years ago. Maybe I've even seen this statue.

In this case I prefer option a) and the second picture (it is less the top leaves - not enough of them to make a proper frame)

I like option A too!
LOL!

These are absolutely beautiful.

It is beautiful and full of hope. I often wonder what it was like to be one of those folks. What courage. God bless.

Love the shot...and it really does look like he's directing a plane to come in for a landing :)

Happy Skywatch Friday!

Nice photo of a "skywatcher".

I would choose another option for your photo: praising God for the beautiful sky! Neat shot!

He does look like he's waving a plane in...he just needs some flags or lights or something :)
I have a bajillion and a half pics on my computer, so Mikell bought me a an external drive. It's half full already.

Cool photo! I think he's obviously joining us in Sky Watch Friday ;-)

I pick option a - he's definitely watching the sky.

I take a bajillion pictures. Then I have the hardest time figuring out which one(s) I like best.

Paulie, that was a great additional option! I've seen this statute a bajillion times...but once I'd like to catch him with a bird on his hand...wouldn't that be cool?

I think I like the one that doesn't close up best. They're both great photos! I love taking photos of statues, often from behind! They really do make great photos!

So that is where they landed. We in New England like to think ourselves the oldest in the US but you have it beaten by a couple hundred years! My Sky Watch Friday is here.
